
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Immediately after introducing Texas Governor Rick Perry as a "genuine follower of Jesus Christ" at a major conference of Christian conservatives here, pastor Robert Jeffress of Dallas, Texas then walked outside to attack GOP candidate Mitt Romney's Mormon religion. Reached afterwards for comment, Tony Perkins, president of Family Research Council, argued that tapping Pastor Jeffress to introduce Governor Perry had nothing to do with Perry's own bid for the GOP nomination. "Let me be frank," said Perkins.
